Today we just finished out the last official day for school and our winter break has begun! I can’t tell you how ready I was for this much needed break from the grind. While I do love our homeschool days (as well as the days our boys attend classes), it’s always this time of year that I find myself needing refreshment.
As a mom who takes an active daily part in her children’s education, I know with my heart that what I’m doing is important work, but on hard days, and especially Tuesdays for some reason, my human mind can forget.
I forget that the mess from a million pieces of cut-up paper left in the floor, mixed with the baby’s dropped oat cereal snacks, the Lego pieces, and a random slurry of pencils and workbooks tossed aside on our way out to basketball practice IS JUST TEMPORARY. And that the moments spent making those mounds of messes amount to way more than the visual plague that they seem to be.
Moms need reminders and refreshment mid-year, and homeschooling moms can find the encouragement they need if they only look. One place I have found amazing encouragement for my homeschool journey is the Homeschool Moms’ Winter Summit. I have had the privilege of attending, as well as speaking at this awesome event in recent years, and I’ve never gone that I didn’t come home refreshed.
Imagine surrounding yourself with moms who are right where you are on the homeschooling path. And moms who have gone before you and gleaned a bit of wisdom that they can speak into your life.
